Casella Family Brands takes top score at 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards

12th July 2021 | Written by client

Casella Family Brands are proud to announce our recent results at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).

Not shy of wine awards itself, our very own Morris of Rutherglen Old Premium Rare Topaque shined, as always, achieving the most points for any Australian wine submitted into the wine show – 98 points. This is an amazing feat for our humble Rutherglen winery to be honoured at such an internationally renowned wine show such as DWWA.

Across our portfolio of premium brands, we received 1x Platinum medal for Morris of Rutherglen NV Old Premium Rare Topaque and 3x Gold medals for Morris of Rutherglen NV Cellar Reserve Grand Topaque, Brand’s Laira 2016 One Seven One Cabernet Sauvignon + Casella Family Wines 2018 ‘1919’ Cabernet Sauvignon.

This year marked the biggest year of entries for DWWA with more than 18,000 wines tasted from 56 countries. Over a fifteen consecutive day judging process, almost 170 wine show judges (including 44 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers), awarded 50 Best in Show, 179 Platinum, 635 Gold, 5,607 Silver and 8,332 Bronze medals.

In addition to the above accolades, we were awarded 9 Silver medals and 15 Bronze medals.
